Manuha Temple
Manuha Temple
(1059 AD / King Manaha)
This is the only temple with the squeezing seated and reclining Buddha images built by King Manuha in 1059 AD. King Manuha was captive and deposed King of Mon kingdom because his kingdom was destory by King Anawrahta of Bagan and he was here under house arrest. Inside you may see three Buddha images and the biggest Buddha image was display at the main entrance seated position 46feet and the other two were 33 feet each. On țhe other side you can see reclining Buddha image 90 feet.

( 13 Century / King Zeyathein Kha )
One of the pure Myanmar style temple and this temple is famous for beautiful stucco carving and original frescco painting from the 13th century and built by Htilominlo or Zeya Thein kha.
Square corridor are 140ft each side and the temple is about 140 meters high.
According to traditional Htilominlo was chosen to be the next King our of the five sons of King Narapati Sithu. The King invited all the audience and the five sons was stand in a circle with a white umbrea in the middle. When the umbrella would tilt amd point towards one of the sons, that son selected to be the next King. As the umbrella pointed towards Htilominlo and he was chosen. It is said that the Htilominlo temple was built on the spot where he was selected as the next King.
Dhammayangyi Temple
Dhammayangyi Temple (1163 AD)
The biggest temple in Bagan and pyramid design built by King Narathu in 1163 AD. The Dhammayangyi Temple be seen from quite a distance from all directions.
In the legend history the King have been killed his brother and his father and also his India Queen, the Palaikyaya of India. The finest bricks work can be seen in this temple in Bagan, because the King wondered his men to build the best bricks work. If the needle can put between the gap of the bricks the king cut fingers of workers so everybody has to level the surface of the bricks before they fix them. That's why the temple has become the finest bricks work but it was not complete who the king passway in 1165 AD. According to the tradition King Narathu was killed by (8) India commandos as a avenge for killing their Indian Queen.

( King Kyanzittha 1105 AD)
Ananda Temple is the most beautiful and the best masterpiece of architectures in Bagan. There are four huge standing Buddha statues are displayed every cardinal points. The architectural style shows Mon and India influence. There are two corridoring passages and you can walk from inner corridor or outer corridor as well. The four standing Buddha statues are still remain original Buddha statues are South and North entrance. The Aananda temple was heavily damaged by the earthquake in 1975, but it has been restored with spires being giled in 1990 in preparation for celebration of the 900th anniversary of Ananda Temple. The most amazing thing you can see glaze jataka plaques and floor-tiles made of the sand stone was quite an achievement and inscribed with Mon language.
cooking classes
We offer morning or afternoon cooking classes. The morning class starts at the New Bagan market at 07.30am where we browse and do some shopping the walk to my house for cooking and lunch. The afternoon class starts at my house at 3:30 pm and we chat, cook and enjoy dinner. Our aim is to introduce you not only to Myanmar food but also our culture, lifestyle and how food and dining is a key part of our social life. We are not professional chefs, we just love sharing food and stories with travellers. The class is at our house with local cooking equipment and traditional recipes- part of it is hands-on and part is demonstration. The menu includes soup, salad and main course. We do require advance bookings so that we can prepare. Please let us know your name, your hotel (in case we need to contact you) and any food allergies or dietary requirements. The class is 20 USD per person (Please note that we cannot accept credit cards!) which includes the class, all food and drinking water, tea and coffee. 20% of the tour price going to the Kuthodaw Library, a library we set up to promote reading to the young people in our neighbourhood. Shwezigon Pagoda
Shwezigon Pagoda
( King Anawrahta & Kyansittha. 11th centure)
The Shwezigon Pagoda is a prototype of Burmese style stupa in Bagan, which is located in Nyaung U Township. The meaning of Shwezigon is Shwe means gold Zigon means sand bank and which is called golden sand bank.
Shwezigon pagoda was enshrined replica tooth relic of Buddha. Shwezigon was built by two kings, King Anawrahta and his son King Kyansittha. The King Anawrahta, he could built only lower terraces and his son King Kyansittha completed all above level.
Most of the religious monuments in Bagan were built by bricks, but the Shwezigon Pagoda was built by sand stone. According to the legend history, that sand stone were brought from Tuyin Taung which is ten miles away from Bagan. Durning that time the King Anawrahta didn't use any vehicles to carry sand stone. They just used
human- change to carry sand stone from Tuyin Taung to Shwezigon Pagoda it expressed the unity of people and the power of the King.
The three terraces were decorated with glazed terracotta plaques which were depicting the 550 Jataka stories about the previous lives of the Buddha.
Bu Phaya
Bu Phaya (3rd Century / King Pyu Saw Hti) This is the first and the earliest pagoda in Bagan wich is located at the bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River. Built by King Phy Saw Hti in the 3rd AD. This is pure Pyu style pagoda without conner stupas and without too much decoration and the design is just like the cylindrical. The shape ofthis pagoda is like a gourd fruit because this pagoda built at the place where Pyu Saw Hti killed the gourd plant with his magic arrow.
